Dr. Wolfgang Mees is the only dentist in German-speaking countries and one of only a few in Europe to specialize in the LANAP method – an advanced, laser-assisted treatment for gum disease.

What is the LANAP® method?
No cut, no stitches, less anxiety
The alternative to traditional gum surgery
The LANAP method has been scientifically proven to regenerate lost bone and tissue structures that have been damaged by gum disease.
It is the world’s first and only FDA-approved laser method in periodontal medicine. This innovative treatment method makes it possible to preserve your natural teeth without massive surgery.
“No Cut – No Sew – No Fear”
LANAP is a gentler alternative to traditional gum surgery. Unlike traditional surgery, LANAP’s “no incision – no suture – no fear” procedure is less painful and requires no incisions or sutures. This results in minimal bleeding and contributes to a faster, more comfortable recovery.
Natural bone formation and regeneration
The laser procedure specifically removes bacteria and diseased tissue and seals the gum pockets, preventing new germs from entering. The treatment is supported by the use of special instruments to clean the tooth roots and stabilize the teeth. The result: natural bone regeneration and regeneration of the tissue around the tooth roots.
Treatment procedure

The periodontal probe is used to measure the depth of the periodontal pocket.

The laser light removes bacteria and diseased tissue.

An ultrasonic scaler and special hand instruments are used to remove tartar from the root surface.

The laser completes the cleaning of the bag and helps to seal it so that no new germs can penetrate.

The bite is adjusted.

New tissue attachment and bone growth occur on the cleaned root surface. Healing begins.

Bone regeneration occurs.
We have many international patients. Why is that?
LANAP is a widely used method in the USA.
It is little known in Europe.
Only a few specialists train abroad
Unfortunately, LANAP is not widely used in Europe, primarily due to the extensive training that has to be completed in the USA. Successful completion of the program is the basic prerequisite for obtaining a valid license for the LANAP protocol and the special LANAP laser.
Few LANAP specialists in German-speaking countries and Europe
In addition, the revision of the special equipment is very time-consuming and, last but not least, the entire training takes place in English. Many LANAP-licensed dentists have therefore already completed at least part of their studies in the USA.
Patients from abroad are very welcome.
Unfortunately, all this makes the group of specialists in Europe very small and we are constantly being approached from abroad for treatment.
In the meantime, we have been able to gain sufficient experience to serve customers from abroad with the same high quality. Appropriate instruction from the local dentist is a matter of course and ensures success.
